Attention Development & Learning through Infants’ First Year

3 Visits at 4, 6, and 8 Months of Age

At 6 months, infants with larger social networks were faster to shift their attention to strangers, despite preferring caregivers overall at this age.
4-month infants with a greater ability to focus on relevant information and filter distractions held their attention on toys for longer durations during play.
4-month infants with a greater ability to focus on relevant information and filter distractions were more likely to shift their gaze toward faces when viewing an array of faces and objects.
